IP Evaluation And Market Intelligence:
For a Fortune 200 technology firm, nLake performed competitive
market assessments and marketing and technical feasibility
analyses to determine commercialization and funding strategies
for intellectual property (IP) portfolio. Identified and
researched over 15 end-use applications and markets through
the analysis of competing products, technical journals,
and prior art (patents). Met with over 50 industrial and
surgical equipment researchers, physicians, and pharmaceutical
product managers (i.e., brachytherapy, cardiac surgery,
radiology, and catheter device design, food and medical
sterilization, NDT/NDE, test systems, and RF MEMS experts)
to understand competitive offerings and categorize and rank
the opportunities and markets. Prepared detailed report
of findings and delivered presentation to CEO and executive
officers that incorporated a "dashboard" to highlight
key players, opportunities, approaches of entry to the markets
(e.g., joint venture, acquisition, greenfield, co-development),
value of further investment in each technology, window(s)
of opportunity/current competitive advantage, and next steps
roadmap.
Competitive Assessment And Intelligence Gathering:
nLake performed competitive assessment and analysis of
university and corporate technology transfer best practices.
Developed survey and interviewed more than 70 university
technology transfer directors, 15 corporate technology in-licensing
managers, and 14 University of Wisconsin staff to determine
areas of excellence. Analyzed survey data to determine opportunities
for the creation of a for-profit tech transfer business
service offered by University of Wisconsin to other universities.
Created pricing model to determine which services could
be profitably offered.
Sales & Marketing Planning:
nLake educated management at a nanotechnology materials
design company interested in supplying the competitive automotive
racing market. Used past personal knowledge, involvement,
and contacts in automotive racing markets to perform in-depth
breakdown of the numerous race-sanctioning bodies, racing
types, barriers to entry, and costs of entry. Delivered
to client a marketing program and implementation roadmap
to best utilize the firm's limited budget and niche interest
